Late last month, Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster ($12.99) from Square Enix hit iOS, Android, and Steam as the final release in the current Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series. Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster was likely the one most people were looking forward to the most given the original game. For me, Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster is the most important one. Overall, Square Enix has done a great job with these releases in most ways, but the current releases on mobile and PC are still lacking thanks to the awful font (that can be modded on PC) and some judder issues. If you’ve not followed the Pixel Remaster series so far, these releases include UI improvements, auto-battle options, a rearranged soundtrack, and updated pixel art. Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster got a few more enhancements as seen in recent gameplay. Today, Square Enix has released the full Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series soundtracks on iTunes. These include all the new arrangements for the six games. Watch a comparison trailer for Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster’s soundtrack below:
If you, like me, loved the new arrangements in the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series, you can now grab the soundtrack albums. Check out the official website for the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series soundtracks here. They are all available on iTunes right now (not Apple Music or Spotify for streaming yet). Square Enix usually releases music on streaming services a bit later with digital releases now arriving the same day as the physical discs in Japan. Make sure to read Shaun’s reviews of the Pixel Remasters of Final Fantasy here, Final Fantasy II here, Final Fantasy III here, Final Fantasy IV here, Final Fantasy V here, and Final Fantasy VI here. Have you gotten the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster releases on mobile or Steam yet and what do you think of the new music arrangements?
