Just shy of 2 years ago in May of 2020 developer Awesome Games Studio released Fury Unleashed on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation. The game was mainly inspired by the likes of Dead Cells and Rogue Legacy, which took action platforming and injected it with a healthy dose of roguelike elements, but instead of action platforming Fury Unleashed looked to do the same with run ‘n gun platform shooters like Metal Slug and Contra. If that sounds like an awesome combo to you, then you are correct. Now that awesome combo is coming to the iOS platform on March 24th.
Fury Unleashed features a really cool comic book-inspired art style, as well as a clever 4th wall-breaking storyline. A combo system encourages you to link attacks together quickly in order to increase your power and abilities, and you can even make it through the entire game with one gigantic, never-ending combo if you’ve got the skills. Levels are a mixture of procedurally generated and hand-crafted chunks, and there’s a beefy skill tree to fill out along with a robust character customization system. See it all in action in the following trailer.
From the looks of things, this will be a no compromises port of Fury Unleashed, even including the online cooperative feature from previous platforms. Shaun quite enjoyed the Switch version when he reviewed it in 2020, noting that it was fun whether you were playing solo or with a buddy. Fury Unleashed on iOS will also be a premium release with no ads or IAP, and currently you can pre-order it on the App Store for $8.99. It’s also worth noting that the Switch version is on sale right now for just $6.99. I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on the iOS version when it hits next month.
