Best iPhone Game Updates: ‘Grindstone’, ‘Marvel Strike Force’, ‘Merge Dragons’, ‘Afterpulse’, and More

TouchArcade Rating:

Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. A lot of the big games seem to be enjoying a bit of a summer vacation at the moment, so I had to look around outside the usual places. Somehow, I managed to find some interesting stuff for you to read as you munch on your morning chow. Assuming you are reading this in the morning, anyway. You could be reading this in the evening, and gosh that would be some egg on my face. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!

A3: STILL ALIVE, Free A3 Still Alive has a fresh update that brings a brand new feature to the game that its fans are sure to enjoy. Engage in a Fortress Battle and see if you have what it takes to climb to the top and claim victory. Earn the glory and rewards for your Guild that come with success and prove you’re the best. Soul Linkers, your stalwart supports in battle, have been given a new Mythical grade. I’m not sure what that means, but hey, it’s a new thing. My work here is done.

tint., The relaxing chill that is Apple Arcade’s Tint gets a bit of extra meat on its proverbial bones with its latest update. Twenty new levels have been added to Book VI, along with some new pages for the Zen Book. That gives you lots of new painting puzzles to tackle, and that’s all you could really want from an update to this game. This update also adds a new language selection feature, making it more accessible to players around the world.

TSM Game, Free The Summer event in The Sims Mobile enters its third phase, and I have to believe we’re getting near the end at this stage. In this part, you can explore a cozy new house, Nalani’s Summer Getaway, complete with a fun water slide. Please don’t get stuck in it. Seriously. You’re a guest in the house, for crying out loud. You can also head to the Beach Retreat Treasure Hunt and see what kind of mucky, gross treasure you can find lurking in the sands. Maybe a nickel! That would be something, wouldn’t it?

World of Tanks Blitzâ„¢, Free Okay, I guess it’s about time to see what’s going on in World of Tanks Blitz. It seems there is a new map, which is always nice to see. Dubbed Ghost Factory, it features coal mounds, a big factory complex, and a demolished bridge. This update also brings back the MS-1 in a limited event called The Old Guard. Two new modes, Mad Games and Realistic Battles, have been added, along with British national crew voiceovers. Now you can sound all fancy while you play! Unless you’re already British, in which case… now you can sound like you normally do! And that’s nice too, sometimes.

Toy Blast, Free It’s the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle update again, and it’s Toy Blast again. Look, I can’t come up with the spicy stuff every week. Or even most weeks, come to think of it. At any rate, this update hits you with the usual package of fifty new levels and some storyline justification that probably isn’t even in the game. Sir Rhino has apparently been searching for an ancient city, and he’s finally found it? Now he’s taking pictures of the place instead of looting it, because this is apparently his first rodeo. More levels, that’s the story. That’s all the people want.

Merge Dragons!, Free Hm. This won’t mean anything to any of you, but I have a basic template for these articles that I saved years ago with whatever games were in there that week. I just replace them with the new ones each week, you see. And by chance, this position happened to be Merge Dragons!, and that’s where this update fell on my list. Uh, anyhow. This update seeds a few more upcoming events. Camp & Chill is still ongoing, and the Fluff Cove Den and Shrooms & Fairies event are coming up. There’s also a new Night Sky season to try out. Go get those dragons. Rock the dragon. You know. Head Cha-La. Yeah, you know.

MARVEL Strike Force: Squad RPG, Free Deadpool’s 30th anniversary is underway and… wait. Deadpool is 30 years old? Oh dear. I need to have a sit-down. Okay, I’m fine. Anyway, Marvel Strike Force is celebrating this landmark occasion for the Merc with the Mouth by adding his adorable little girl, Deathpool, to the game. Don’t go digging in your back issues: she’s a new character for this game. She’s backed by three other new playable characters: Shang Chi, Cloak, and Dagger. There are some new costumes for Shang Chi, Doctor Strange, Invisible Woman, Carnage, Taskmaster, and Emma Frost. Add in some new events, balance adjustments, UI and bug fixes, and all the usual stuff and you’ve got a rather solid update for this Marvel masher. For lack of any better options, I’m giving this the coveted UMMSotW award for this week. I like Deathpool’s design, and that’s enough to put it over this time.

Rules of Survival, Free It’s been a very long time since we’ve looked in on Rules of Survival. I can’t really say why. It feels like it has fallen off a bit, with PUBG eating everyone’s lunch in the mobile Battle Royale business since the main competition left. Well, it’s still going on strong with content at least. Season 19 is starting up, complete with a whole bunch of rewards for good little kids who join in. There are also some bug fixes and UI improvements, as there always are. Nothing in the notes about new goodies, but I’m sure a steady stream of events is enough to keep most players entertained.

Afterpulse - Elite Squad Army, Free A new season for Afterpulse, the popular squad-based action shooter. Dubbed Toxic, it sees the criminal Jesters taking control. They’ve gotten their vile hands on the finest gear and weapons from the Atom faction. Join up with the Bomber Regiment or fight for the forces of good: it’s up to you. There’s also something here about Oktoberfest, but it seems to point to a weapon rather than an event? Perhaps both. I leave it to all you to investigate.

Grindstone, Just a little update to finish things off this week, friends. Grindstone is one of those games that always seems to have something going on, even if that something isn’t anything too big. This time around, that translates out to some new weekly errands you can complete to earn some new homemade hats. There’s also something in here about Jjary’s hideout being on the top of the mountain, but I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about there. Throw in the usual bug fixes, and that’s about all there is to it.

That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
