Way back in May of 2018 we took a look at a new upcoming game tentatively titled Norse from developer Northplay, of Conduct THIS! fame. Norse was a colorful action adventure game that was designed from the ground up for the touchscreen and one-handed play, and featured a really cool game loop where you’d pop into different worlds, battle enemies, collect resources, and unlock new and better weaponry and items. Well Northplay has been hard at work on the game in the time since, and it’s finally just about ready to be unleashed on the world under its new name Headland. Here is a brand new trailer showing some of what you can expect from the game.
The name Headland is derived from the fact that you’re playing in the imagination world of the young boy Nor who is the main hero, literally the land in his head. An evil presence has started to wreak havoc in Headland and has split your robot buddy’s powerful imagination crystal into shards, so now it’s up to you to go collect those shards and save the day. Interestingly, Headland seems like it would be ripe for free to play mechanics what with all the resource collecting and item upgrading, but that’s not the case. It is a free to start game and features about 30-45 minutes of play for free, then you’ll buy a one-time IAP to unlock the full game which is about 5 or so more hours and features an ending and everything. Pretty cool.
Headland is currently available for pre-order on the Apple App Store and pre-registration on the Google Play Store for Android and it’ll be releasing next week on December 15th. I’m stoked to check it out.
