Over the last few years, I’ve been playing more games from NIS America on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. They’ve been bringing loads of games from both NIS in Japan and third party partners to consoles and PC over the years. Most people know NIS America for English releases in the Disgaea and Danganronpa franchises. Today, the PS4 and Nintendo Switch enhanced remake of the original Disgaea just got a surprise release on the App Store in the form of Disgaea 1 Complete ($32.99) as a fully premium release. This is a nice surprise after how much of a mess Disgaea RPG has been in Japan on mobile. Watch the trailer for the mobile version below:
If you’ve never played Disgaea 1 or any Disgaea game before, the franchise is known for great tactical battles and humour that will be hit or miss with you. You’re always in for a good time with a Disgaea game if you enjoy over the top action though. Disgaea 1 Complete is an enhanced remake that is based on the PC version of Disgaea 1 that was an improved take on the original game. Disgaea 1 Complete includes all DLC from the get go and it has some quality of life improvements over the original version. The App Store page mentions 2GB RAM or higher as a requirement so keep that in mind before you buy this. Watch the trailer for the Nintendo Switch version below:
What’s interesting about this release is the fact that NIS went ahead and brought in some new mobile exclusive features like auto battle, new speed boost options, and the cheat shop. The iOS version supports iCloud saves. If you’re interested in checking this out, Disgaea 1 Complete is available on the App Store and Google Play for $32.99. Check it out on the App Store here and Google Play here. It is worth noting that this released on PS4 and Nintendo Switch around a year ago for $49.99 and it is still that price digitally on those platforms. The English website for the mobile version of Disgaea 1 Complete just went live here. Have you played Disgaea 1 before on any system?

Wow!!!!
Wow!!! For the price.
Seriously, next to the rest of my wishlist, the mobile version has little chance. With a console version, at least there is a chance to resell, if I end up not liking it much, or lacking the time to play it properly.
I'd say, they should have tried an episodic installment, like the mobile ports of the TellTale games.
No, they shouldn't. It is a great game worth the money since the digital versions on consoles are $50.00. Over 100s of hours of gameplay. Have you actually played it or not?
Okay, maybe I should rephrase it: In order for this to sell well, they'd have to use a different business model.
I get that the value is there. But I just can't see many people spending 35€ on any mobile game up front, while on consoles people are conditioned to this price range.
I know that for me it competes with a long list of interesting indie games that are on PC, iOS and consoles, and usually cost less than 15€. So at a 35€ single-purchase business model, they may effectively limit the market too much.
This is why free mobile games with IAP is so popular.
Yea I've played it before. On PSP, over ten years ago. Far too expensive for such an old game. Pass for me.
