Commandos 2: Men of Courage is a military tactical strategy game created by Pyro Studios and released for PC (and, somewhat uniquely for the time, Xbox and PlayStation 2) way back in 2001, and now nearly two decades later Kalypso Media is giving it the remastering treatment and releasing it on modern consoles which includes the iPad and Nintendo Switch. Commandos 2 is the proper sequel to 1998’s Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines and its standalone expansion Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty. It’s is a top-down real-time tactical strategy game where you’ll be directing various military units through a number of story-driven missions, and it was quite critically acclaimed at the time of its release and has gone on to be considered a classic in the real-time tactics genre. Commandos 2 HD Remaster will feature improved controls and visuals, which you can see in this latest trailer.
The actual development of Commandos 2 HD Remaster is being handled by Yippee Entertainment on behalf of Kalypso Media and will be heading to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, and iPad and Android tablets. Kalypso is also heading up a remaster of Pyro’s other successful strategy game Praetorians which originally released in 2003, but sadly that one is only destined for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. No Switch or mobile. It’s possible it could be a bit more demanding with all the units it shows onscreen and its more advanced graphics compared to Commandos 2. Still, strategy gamers should be pretty excited to get their hands on Commandos 2 in remastered form on their platform of choice when it launches at some point later this year.

No future phone support?
@Kahdmus
That as exactly what I thought when I heard of the release of Commandos 2 I played it on the PS2 a port to the iPhone must be possible graphically and technically wise? I really liked the game were you could go in buildings and the camera switched to a inside view so you could put your character on the loft so that he had a strategical view and shoot enemies that crossed his line of fire and I
liked that you could switch between different
characters that was the best for the situation there
was even a dog that you could use to distract enemies it is such a great game!
Yes!!! Fond memories!!!!
First Company of Heroes, now Commandos 2, just great!!!
