One of the biggest cult hits amongst our community over the years has been Nimian Legends: BrightRidge. It’s an open-world 3rd-person adventure game that originally launched back in July of 2014 as a years long passion project of solo developer Robert Kabwe aka Protopop Games. It lacked most of the structure and storyline you’d expect from a typical open-world action RPG and instead focused on the joy of exploration, and featured a huge and interesting world where you could do just that. In 2016 a fully revamped HD version of Nimian Legends was released and over the years the developer has added to the game tremendously, including many of those previously missing things like a story campaign and a more traditional action RPG structure. At its heart though, Nimian Legends: BrightRidge is all about getting lost in an awesome fantasy world, and now its sequel wants to offer another huge world to explore. Here’s a trailer from that upcoming sequel, Nimian Legends: Vandgels.
That video is from last summer, but if you wanted to see some shorter but more recent looks at Nimian Legends: Vandgels then there are A LOT more videos to see over on the Protopop YouTube channel. Now if you want to go a step further and actually PLAY this upcoming release, it’s currently in open beta and if you head over to the game’s thread in our forums you’ll find a public Testflight link that will give you access to the beta build. This version only includes an Exploration mode while Protopop continues to work on the story, but if you just want to run around in a new world then this should fit the bill. You can provide feedback in that same forum thread our directly through the Testflight app. As an additional bonus to all this beta testing excitement, the original Nimian Legends: BrightRidge HD is currently free for I believe just the third time ever. If you haven’t jumped on the Nimian Legends wagon yet then now is the time to do it for both BrightRidge and Vandgels, and we’ll be sure to keep an eye on this sequel as it continues to shape up.

Thanks for the writeup Jared - that was a nice surprise. Most of all though, i love that you called BrightRidge a 'cult hit' :) That's the first time anyone said anything like that and its actually a great boost. You know, this is my second game and i am learning a lot, and i always see all the rough spots, but i think im making some progress. I have a concrete plan and a third (the ocean awaits) and fourth game (a special surprise that will build on the first three) also in the works. I just want to keep polishing things and learning as much as i can. And im really thankful when people take notice of the game, play it and a lot have sent really encouraging feedback. It makes it all worth it. I am working hard to finish adding the story mode to Vandgels, and i can;t wait to release the full game on Android and IOS soon :)
I have been a lover of Protopop’s worlds for a long time now. And I’ve been trying to put a little time into Vandgels, but am swamped with work and dadding. But I highly recommend beta testing this if you’ve got some time. These apps are gorgeous and they have a ton to do. It constantly blows me away that this is the vision and creation of only one brilliant guy!
I'm so glad you're dadding:) I think its wonderful and it looks like you were made to do it. And thanks for the nice words - i only hope i can keep improving and making more detailed worlds.
Thanks! Yeah, it's a much bigger and better job than I thought it would be. I'll keep popping into Vandgels when I can and let you know if I notice anything or think of anything. I'm really in awe every time I jump into either app. I sure wish other devs could afford to put so much love and passion into their projects. You're doing a great job!
I tried more than once to play Nimiam Legends on my iPhone 6+ some 2years ago but sadly it crashed on the treehouse very early on in the game the game looked very beautiful and I liked the fairytale vibe so I hope that I can play Nimiam Legends:Vandgels on my 6+
