Slingshot mechanics became synonymous with mobile gaming every since we all got to slingshot those poor, but ill-tempered, birds around, and ever since then, developers have been tinkering with the slingshot formula in all kinds of ways. Drag’n’Boom, an upcoming game by Ankama, is using a double slingshot mechanic of sorts by having you slingshot yourself around while also using similar mechanics to take out the many enemies. Specifically, one side of the screen lets you control your movement (jumping, flying, charging), while the other side lets you spit fireballs. As you can see from the trailer below, the movement and shooting look frantic in a fun way.
And it’s not just about rushing from one end to the other or taking out as many enemies as possible; it’s all about doing it in style, with mid-air combos giving you more gold. The game has 50 levels you can play as well as a endless mode, and those levels are filled with heroes that will remind you of some very familiar arcade and platform games. Drag’n’Boom looks really fun, and I can’t wait to check it out on September 12th.
