Apple’s 32-bit App-ocalypse is drawing nearer, so more developers are announcing their update plans. Today was the turn of Double Fine to announce what will be saved and what will be doomed. As the developer pointed out, saving these apps isn’t as easy as it sounds, so not all games will join the upcoming 64-bit future. Let’s start with the good news first. Broken Age ($4.99) and the remastered Full Throttle ($4.99), Grim Fandango ($4.99), and Day of the Tentacle ($4.99) will be updated and will continue to grace our devices. Middle Manager of Justice will be broken initially, but the developers will be trying to figure out how to best save it.
The game that’s definitely not going to make it and will be forever bound to our 32-bit past is the great Costume Quest (Free). For reasons not explained in the post, Costume Quest will not be updated but will remain on the store. Double Fine will also make the game free soon so those who decide to live in the past can grab it. At least Day of the Tentacle, one of my favorite games ever, won’t be exiled to the 32-bit land of oblivion.
