A few weeks ago, we got word that Winterworks was going to be bringing an update to the original Bloo Kid ($1.99). With the rumored 32-bit Appocalypse looming, many developers are trying to get their older titles updated to support 64-bit. The nice thing is that some developers are using this as an excuse to add new content or features to games that had otherwise been left alone for quite some time. In Bloo Kid‘s case, we’re getting a whole new world of levels to go with that shiny 64-bit support. Well, the update has now arrived, so feel free to dive into the deep Bloo once more.
I suppose if we must look for a silver lining in this impending ridiculousness, it’s that we are seeing new content for games like Bloo Kid. The game already had 84 levels, but adding another 12 on top represents a fairly substantial new chunk of gameplay, especially if you’re looking to earn three stars on each stage. This game hadn’t seen an update since 2013, and the last time we got new levels was in 2011 when the world had yet to know the joys of both PPAP and Gangnam Style. Truly, the darkest ages. While the Bloo Kid series has moved on to a more complex Super Mario Bros.-style design, I have a soft spot for the original game’s call-back to single-screen classics like Bubble Bobble. I’m therefore happy that it will continue to exist, and ecstatic that there is now more of it to enjoy.
If you also have an appreciation for classic arcade games and haven’t given the original Bloo Kid a spin, there’s never been a better time to do so. Like Jared, I’d love to see this series continue in some fashion, and hopefully the fact that Winterworks is updating this somewhat old game means that they mean to keep things going. I only wish that all of these 32-bit stories had such happy endings. You can go grab the newly-updated Bloo Kid from your local App Store as soon as you finish reading this sentence. Or before. I’m not your boss.

I saw this on AppShopper and picked it up, despite still playing another clicker (Bit City), and not feeling so sure about buying a clicker. Not sure how to gauge progress, but potatoes are doing things.
The game has a specific narrative and gets more interesting as it continues. It will be hard to miss the fact that you're making progress. Stick with it.
Honestly feels like it's been a sad few weeks on the mobile scene... I enjoyed Penarium but otherwise it's all been clickers, crossy roads and simple puzzlers... where's all the actual games!
Oh and various mobas that seem alright in concept, but I'm not into competitive gaming :(

You couldn't be more wrong. You're not playing it because it "is" a clicker, it has an endearing story and while it doesn't change the mechanics of a clicker, the story and heart make it well well well well worth the price of admission, at least for a large majority of us who purchased it.
I was enthralled from start to finish and, hands down, it was one of the most enjoyable and fulfilling gaming experiences I've had this year. It's a game I want to go back and do over, spending a bit more time focused on the actual story rather than the "ooh what's next shiny!"
I haven't felt this way about a game since, hell, Sword and Sworcery (which I think I really want to replay now).

Then you're missing the point. A 40 minute trailer for a minimalist, narrative clicker is absurd, and intentional.
I don't know what you're talking about, but I am talking about the 1-minute trailer shown above that doesn't show what the game looks like on screen or how you play it.
Amazing game. Loving every minute of you. If you don't get this because it's a clicker or because it's paid then I'm sorry for you. My $3 is getting me hours of entertainment.

this game is as much minimalist art as it is a clicker. loving this. i rarely play games with the sound on, but it's a must for this one.
I was mildly interested in the story at first. It lost my interest about halfway through. The clicker aspect was basic. The few challenges were already tired after the second one. The graphics were interesting. I thought there was a lot more they could do with it. The UI got in the way of the storytelling. Basically, it was a simple humorous story with minimal game mechanics. I think the blurb should be "a fun story with fun graphics wrapped in a basic clicker."
