If you were hoping for a fun, easy Hearthstone (Free) Tavern Brawl and an easy pack this week, I’m sorry to disappoint; instead, what we are getting is the second Heroic Tavern Brawl, the brawl for those with either a lot of money to spare or really good collections (or both). The Heroic Tavern Brawl costs 1000 gold or $9.99 to join, so it’s definitely not the kind of Brawl you join for fun and hope for the best. Once you join, you build a Standard deck and then compete with others in a kind of constructed Arena. Lose 3 times and you’re out; get 12 wins, and you get the keys to the city (not really, but close.)

Why would anyone want to spend that much on a Brawl run? Well, one thing is bragging rights; during the last one, all the pros were trying to outdo each other, which made for some fun streams. In addition to the bragging rights, the rewards scale very nicely, with 9 wins earning you 16 packs, 400 dust, and 400 gold, and 12 wins getting you 50 packs, 1100 dust, 1100 gold, and 3 Golden Legendaries. But good luck getting up there.
