It might feel like it’s been forever since we last talked about Plants vs. Zombies Heroes (Free), and it might as well have been; we wrote about the game being in soft-launch back in March, so it’s been a while. Well, the developers finally feel the game is ready to officially see the light of day, and they have released it worldwide today. If you haven’t checked out the game, you can read our hands-on from back in March. For those not into going back to the past, Plants vs. Zombies Heroes is a pretty fun CCG that lets you play with all the crazy plants and zombies from the original franchise. There are 20 plant and zombie heroes (think of them as classes) each with its own special powers. You, of course, collect cards through leveling up and buying packs, and build a deck to fight both in PvE and PvP.
While it might sound like just another CCG, the game’s lane-based mechanics – with the two edge lanes allowing for special abilities – the silly cards, and other fun ideas make it stand out from most CCG. If you do have space in your life for another CCG, you should give this one a try. At the same time, I do have to wonder if the game is a couple of years too late; those cute plants and zombies aren’t as popular as they used to.
