‘Pathfinder Adventures’ Adds Adventure Deck 4, the ‘Fortress of the Stone Giants’

TouchArcade Rating:

Many of you have been impatiently waiting for Pathfinder Adventures (Free) to add more decks, and finally today we got Adventure Deck 4, the Fortress of the Stone Giants. This new deck lets you experience Sandpoint under siege as you try to defeat the Stone Giant invasion and unlock the mystery of an ancient spire. The update adds 5 new scenarios, 4 new locations, new loot, new maps, and new Legendary rewards. If you do manage to complete each scenario on Legendary, you’ll unlock the Guide to the Beyond, a book that will be of great help when you have checks against Outsiders or when acquiring magical boons. If you are a Bundle owner, you’ll also get the Birdcruncher Crown promo card that you can use to gain boons when you defeat Goblins.

In addition to that new deck, the update also brings changes to the store. Specifically, treasure chest bundles have changed for the better, so good news for all. You are also able to switch between the tablet and phone UI now, since some don’t like the phone UI that much. And, finally, there are quite a few fixes and changes, which you can check here.

I'm mixed on this. It's sensible and more accessible. I mean it's training so it should be adjustable like that.

However I really liked how the old way encourages use of lower CP Pokémon with effective attacks to gain prestige much faster. Gave the middle of the road Pokémon something to do.

Hopefully there's still room for that but...

Hmm. The "before" screenshot isn't showing the same thing - it's showing the step just before hitting the battle button, at which point you'll get a dialog that looks just like the "after" shot, but with a single Pokémon instead of six.

And they already do _something_ to bias the battles in your favor, as one can pretty consistently take down Pokémons that are substantially stronger than yours. What would be cool is if your Pokémon got a small, but permanent, increase in stats (probably just CP) from training. Currently, you can have two Pokémons who are identical, and one has trained hundreds of times, and the other has never touched a gym, and this makes no difference between them. The only benefit of training is adding to the prestige of the gym, but there's no team scoreboards to affect (like there are in Ingress), and gyms trade hands so often (and it's much easier to attack than defend) that there's no sort of permancy that you can point at. Sure, there's defender bonus, but it's trivial unless you're in a place where you can grab dozens of gyms at a time (and back to the bit about them constantly flipping and being hard to defend).

Well, if nothing else, my niece is totally thrilled to battle gyms when we go walking together.

Unfortunately, i'm surrounded by puny Yellows that already keep the gyms at lvl 10.
So i, a lone Blue wolf, can hardly scratch their predominance.
And now they got it even more easy to train their gyms.
How about giving ME a bonus for fighting windmills, Niantic?

        Haha, cute.

If I understand what they're doing, this will make it easier for you. Lower level yellows will prestige into their gym, which means the whole thing will be stocked with mostly lower level Pokemon.

Basically it sounds like they're trying to balance it towards rewarding people for playing and being active at any level. I imagine sometime soon we'll be hearing the wailing of the pay-to-winners who are about to get nerfed.

        Tilting at windmills. Tilting.

      many have already left
good job for ruining a game with such potential

allowing 6 vs 1 is totally ridiculous
