Lumines Puzzle & Music only soft launched on the App Store back in July, but that didn’t stop excited forum members finding ways to circumvent App Store regional barriers to download it early, despite being a paid title. While the game has lived up to the lofty expectations of Lumines fans, for those of us not in New Zealand, Australia or Japan, or anyone who was too poor, lazy or ambivalent to somehow acquire it from their respective App Stores, the wait is almost over. Lumines: Puzzle & Music is set to launch worldwide on the App Store on September 1st for $2.99, and developers Mobcast and Q Entertainment have released a new trailer with some pretty graphics in preparation for the upcoming release. An upcoming ask-me-anything on Reddit on August 30th with the series creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi is the icing on the cake, and for a series with a relatively turbulent existence, it’ll be a great opportunity for fans to ask him what’s next, on both iOS and beyond.
I remember playing the original Lumines all the way back at the launch of the original PSP over 11 years ago (bet you feel old now), and with reports that Lumines Puzzle & Music is up to the standard set by its predecessor and not the original awful iteration that hit the App Store years ago, I’m extremely excited to give this new entry in the series a spin. Furthermore, our very own Shaun Musgrave has already posted a brilliant hands-on, which breaks down all the intricacies of this new release before it has even been released worldwide, so for anyone skeptical to whether Lumines Puzzle & Music can live up to the quality of the original, definitely give it a read (spoiler: it does the series justice). Look our for this newest Lumines title on September 1st for $2.99, and be sure to share your thoughts and expectations on our forums.

I was waiting for a review, guess i might wait for a sale on this on then...as it it wud only go into my backlog anyway. Thats a shame, as i also like to support premium full price, but only if its passable. This sounds like a bit of a mess, unless i hear different guess il hold out.
Must admit, this has - so far - left me a bit flat. Haven't returned to it since leap of fate came out.
And the agony is compounded by the 2.8gb update files. Just managed to clear one out a day or three ago, only for another one to land within minutes. Great that they're keeping things moving, but chuffing agony to have to clear (and reclear) that much space!
I'll wait for a sale then
What a big letdown I bought the game and didn't start the game yet I don't understand this f•••••••p you see a great game trailer and beautiful graphics and when you read the review it's "crap",why the developers didn't take more time to balance the gameplay and deliver an fantastic experience?so sad I was looking for a great gameplay experience but after this review it can wait in the "play later
section" on my phone.
Dude, just play it. You already bought it. I wouldn't say this is a bad game at all, but it's very divisive. Someone wanting a very heavy action game will likely be disappointed, but if you want a rad story and amazing production values, this has that. I think it's best trying to go in with an open mind and enjoying the game for what it is, rather than expecting it to be a certain way and then being disappointed that it's not. But like I said, this is just Carter's opinion of the game and since you already bought if you might as well give it a try.
Also, if you really really love corridors, this will be your game of the century!
Eisenhorn has corridors *totally* nailed 8-)
Edit: on a more serious note, i should add: make sure you have a decent chunk of time when you first fire it up. In my early experience, it doesn't repay brief engagements too well. Better at a stretch.
I gonna try it out and let you know if I like the game.
I bought this and have enjoyed it quite a bit. I'm not a Warhammer guy as well I try not to let the reviews sway me. Unless it's a game I haven't heard of/played etc. I do usually have a rule of thumb and that is that I add 1 star to most of Carter's reviews. Especially if they are scored below 3 & 1/2. Sure it's a big game and I still haven't gotten a very good weapon due to the lack of battles in the story. But I plan to finish it and then delete the game for space.
Well written review regardless of low score. There's a lot of crap we all download that I think would be an average or below average experience. Try not to let a score turn you away unless the game is absolutely abysmal. Just my thoughts.
I'm enjoying it a lot, works great on mfi too. Bought it after pocket gamer gave it a 9/10 and I'm pretty happy.
Yeah I'm enjoying this game as well! Why do the reviews have to be so harsh? I personally love what the devs did, despite not knowing anything about Warhammer. I'm just happy there are people out there developing great looking games like this and not making another dumb strategy game.

I'm getting better and better at feeling when I have to wait for a review and when I can push the buy button immediately. Very reassuring review.
Well, i must disagree with the review. Ok, combat is a little clunky but the narrative, graphics and inmersion are faboulous. Its very near to a console experience on mobile. And I fell that i need to support the work of pixelhero. Im a little tired of freemium time kilers, retro-pixel-indie-stuff or other "marvels" that overflow the appstore. Im not a Warhammer fan. Im just a gamer that enjoy profund experiences and, in my point of view Eisenhorn is one of the few examples on the appstore. Oh!! Also pocketgamer hailed this game with a 9/10. Just points of view
it is enjoyable for me, the clunky battle system can be replaced by the stealth mode (luckily). its at least a 4 out of 5 stars for me as a mobile game. great review but not agreed with the low score. they(pixel hero games) delivered great game in the past for ios gaming scene, try to put some respect to those guys by giving some proper score. not a bad game but giving them 2.5stars? cmon man, what does exactly 2.5 stars mean then?
Damn, was playing last night and my iPhone 6 overheated! Went to shutdown mode! Hahaha wtf.
Ironically I was waiting for this game being released on the German App Store. I had bought it about two hours before the review crashed in here.
I'm gutted. It's as bad as they say. The control scheme and the actual fighting is a mess. And, yes, there is a story I will very probably never see through.
Anyway, actually it was the guys at pocketgamer.co.uk who set me on the wrong track by gifting 9/10 and a Golden Award for a game that's, well, "a little rough around the corners."
Please excuse my faulty English.
Greetings from Germany,
Thorsten
for me this is one of the best games currently available on the appstore , honestly it is a worthy production of a console , I am player consoles and PC, and really this game is of the same quality and that's what I would like to spend more games with this platform because sierta form of hardware that has still not exploited properly.
what the developers did a very good job and deverian example to follow other companies.
I'm not at all agree with this review.
this is a real gem and I recommend players looking for a AAA experience on your phone .
Sorry for my English I am from Argentina
eh i think this review is too harsh.... the game isn't perfect but I am digging it... updates could help. I never understand the people that don't want the game to cost a dime and it also must take up zero space lol... I mean hey at least it isn't the typical freemium crap out that has ruined Wednesday nights.
I also have not been into Warhammer at all..
