Weedo Interactive has announced their new game Shoot the Dragon, and it looks like an intriguing horizontal-scrolling shoot ’em up. The game has you controlling a jetpacked warrior shooting various foes…but he can also transform into a chef bear that launches utensils as weapons while flying through the air? Chalk one up for variety. The animation looks great, there’s an absurd set of characters (one boss is a shredding demon) and I’m intrigued by endless shoot ’em ups, which is what this is planned to be. Check out the game in action for yourself:
Weedo also has some interesting thoughts on design philosophy and pacing that they’ve outlined in the forum thread for the game, including hopes that the story for the game will be meaningful. We’ll see – shoot ’em ups do not lend themselves well to story elements – but why not this? The developers are looking for beta testers and taking feedback before the eventual release. Here’s some: check to see what the acronym for your game also stands for before referring to it by the acronym. Then again, the unintentional humor is a clever marketing tactic…
