Welcome to another weekly roundup of all news Hearthstone (Free). This week hasn’t been a barn burner, so don’t expect any mind-blowing stories; still, there are some interesting things to talk about, like more and more people talking about Wild compared to a few weeks ago and the first mentions of future Adventures. There were stories about the best – or most entertaining – Wild decks along with a sense of the current Wild meta, hopes for what the next Adventure will hold, Shaman talk, the history of Miracle Rogue, and more. And, of course, the most entertaining videos of the week. So, enjoy this week’s roundup, and let’s hope we start hearing more about more content soon.
Hearthstone Production Manager Talks State of the Game
In this interview, Jason Chayes, production manager, talks about how the game partly came about because of the team seeing that digital, online CCGs had huge potential. The main idea was to make a game that a lot of people could love, and to do that they had to make sure it was accessible. While they weren’t expecting the game to become as huge as it currently is, they didn’t develop with making huge profits in mind. There’s a lot of overlap between WoW and Hearthstone players, and there ar ealso many ex-WoW players who’ve returned to Blizzard games because of Hearthstone. The one thing the developers wish they had done more is in terms of customization; right now you can only get it through the decks and the card backs, but no more than that. You can read the rest of the interview here.
The Most Ridiculous Card Reignites RNG Debate
The issue of RNG is one that’s mentioned during pretty much any discussion regarding the game, and according to this story, Yogg-Saron has reignited all those discussions because of how crazy the card is. Many players have often complained that the RNG aspect of the game hurts its competitive side, and Yogg-Saron’s battlecry definitely hasn’t done much to allay such fears. In case you don’t remember what the card does, once you play it, it casts a random spell for each spell you’ve cast in the game. No surprise, then, that some say having a card that can pretty much change the game so dramatically is not what most want to see in a high-stakes tournaments. However, others feel that cards like Yogg-Saron are what keep the game interesting. Which side of the debate are you in? Read the rest of the story here.
Control Shaman is Rising
According to this HearthHead story, Control Shaman is becoming increasingly competitive. While it’s not a mainstream deck, yet, it’s getting there. It might never reach the power of let’s say Control Warrior, but it’s still a deck worth playing and definitely a deck you should be prepared to face. Read the detailed story along with a decklist and advice on how to play the deck here.
Wild Meta Snapshot
Let’s talk about Wild a bit, shall we? This story tries to assess what the best Wild decks are currently. There’s Dragon Priest, Secret Paladin (of course), Freeze Mage, Handlock, and Patron Warrior. Check out these wild Wild decks here.
Great Wild Decks
This HearthPwn story offers help with getting some Wild wins under your belt with some fun decks. There’s a Reno Patron Control Yogg C’Thun N’Zoth Dragon Druid (that’s a mouthful), Reincarnation Control Shaman, Deathrattle Control Priest, and more. Check them all out here and then dare to jump over to the Wild side of life.
The History of Miracle Rogue
This very interesting article discusses the history of Miracle Rogue from the earliest days of Hearthstone – and even before- in an effort to explain how surprising it is for those playing the game since its early days to see Miracle Rogue being a Tier 1 deck. This deck has been too powerful too many times, requiring Blizzard’s nerf hammer to come down a few times to keep it in check. Now, with the removal of cards that gave Miracle Rogue a hard time – Dr. Boom, Loatheb, etc – and the addition of cards like Xaril, Poisoned Mind, the deck is strong again. If you’re the kind of player who enjoys knowing the history of CCGs and deck archetypes, you’ll enjoy this one.
Ideas for Future Adventures
This story delves into a topic I’m sure we’ll be talking about soon enough, Adventures. We’re coming closer to another Adventure releasing (unless Blizzard changes its pattern), so this author tried to guess what kinds of themes we might get. The first theme discussed is Icecrown Citadel, the final raid instance from the WoW Lich King expansion, then we have Horde Vs Alliance, which could be developed similarly to League of Explorers, Pandaria, Karazhan, and Ulduar. Have you been having similar ideas regarding the next Adventure, or are you hoping for something different? Check out the whole story with details on each theme here.
Popular Decks
If you’ve been looking for what most people are currently playing, look no further than this HearthPwn list that gives you the 8 most popular decks of the week. There’s cheap ones and expensive ones, and they range from Warriors to Mage to Rogues and more. Check them all out here.
