Early last month we learned that Ravenous Games was working on a new puzzle roguelike starring everyone’s favorite bug-eyed dog breed: Pugs. Today they’ve announced that that game, Pug’s Quest, is officially complete and heading to the App Store next week on April 7th. Similar to their previous game Tiny Rogue ($2.99), Pug’s Quest is a semi-turn-based pixelized puzzle platformer dungeon crawler roguelike ultimate hybrid genre mashup noscope hyperblaze 9000 but has a few new tricks up its sleeve compared to its predecessor, like collapsible tiles, slippery ice floors, and more. Check out this brand new trailer for an idea of what Pug’s Quest is like in action.
While I liked Tiny Rogue quite a bit, it definitely felt like it was missing that “certain something" to push it over into greatness. Might that certain something be the inclusion of a pug? Maybe! More than that though I think the additional mechanics and puzzle elements added into Pug’s Quest will be the special sauce I’m looking for. Ravenous hasn’t confirmed pricing that we’re aware of, but have mentioned previously they’re likely to follow a similar pricing to that of Tiny Rogue, which should put Pug’s Quest in the $2.99 range with no IAP. Look for it next week!
