If you’re looking for a good time-waster to enjoy this wekeend, may I recommend BioBeasts? (Free) This game released earlier this year, and I didn’t get around to playing it right away, but it intrigued me enough to at least download. And then one day after release, I got around to playing it and had a ton of fun with it. Off the bat, it doesn’t seem like much, as it’s one of those “defeat enemies coming in from 4 different directions" games that’s been oft-repeated on the App Store, like Fist of Fury (Free).
But where BioBeasts stands out is in depth and intensity. The game gives you a bunch of permanent upgrades to acquire, along with temporary upgrades that you get after each level, like roguelikes with level-up abilities. And there’s several different characters to play as, who all have varying methods of attack. Plus, the game just starts to get crazy after a very short while, with massive swarms of enemies to manage to attack. It manages to carve out its own excellent niche on the App Store among a genre that’s go a good foothold. I played this one on stream not long ago, and I could have effortlessly played for far longer than I did. It’s primarily a level-based game, so you actually can ‘beat’ it.
I mention BioBeasts now because the game just got a fresh update with a new endless Survival mode – so I guess you can’t really beat it any more – but now you can play it to your heart’s content. Plus, there’s new backgrounds, a new monster, and if your Game Center works, then there’s Game Center integration! Definitely give this one a download.
