Level 5’s Yo-Kai Watch series has been rapidly expanding, with a TV cartoon, several 3DS games, and now a mobile game of its very own, available in the US, Canada, and Australia: Yo-Kai Watch: Wibble Wobble (Free). This game has you swiping to connect various Yo-kai creatures in an even cuter form called Wib Wob. As you connect them, you pop them to start doing damage to your opponent that you’re battling, with a bigger Wib Wob doing more damage to the enemy Yo-kai. You can also collect those Yo-kai, with over 200 to ultimately add to your collection.

While there’s definite hints of Puzzle and Dragons (Free) here, the playing field’s more free-form nature, with the size of your Yo-kai Wib Wob playing a role in the moves you can make, has this kind of stand out in comparison to other games. It’s an interesting mish-mash of stuff, and this game could be a big stepping stone on the way to this franchise becoming the next Pokemon, or at least Digimon.
