Disney Infinity 3.0 (Free) is getting some new Play Sets this year, starting with a cool new set called Marvel Battlegrounds. It will introduce arcade beat ’em up style gameplay to 3.0, with new characters: Black Panther, Ant-Man, and Vision. Oh, and the plan is for there to be 4-player cooperative action with the Marvel characters in the game across all sorts of environments to play in.

What’s interesting is that the plan is to expand and build upon Disney Infinity 3.0 instead of introducing a brand new version this year. Particularly with the major Disney brands now in the game including Marvel and Star Wars, a 4.0 edition is not necessary at this point, and helps extend the value of the 3.0 Starter Pack. The 3 other Play Sets will be themed after Disney’s main franchises, Pixar, and Star Wars.
