It completely slipped by me that We Heart Dragons posted some teaser info about a follow-up game to their awesome matching RPG Super Glyph Quest ($3.99) a few weeks back, probably because they hid the announcement a bit in the previous game’s forum thread. Most likely so as not to draw too much attention to the project in case it wasn’t completely solidified. However, it sounds like things are moving along as We Heart Dragons has sent along some official information for the new game which is called Glyph Quest Chronicles.
Not a ton of info is available about Glyph Quest Chronicles, but the developers promise new gear, new spells, familiars to summon, and much more. They also mention that “Chronicles is Glyph Quest distilled to it’s purest form" and hope that Chronicles will be “the definitive instalment of the series." Check out the supremely teaser-y teaser trailer and be teased by its teaser-y-ness.
If you’re new to the whole Glyph Quest thing, the original Glyph Quest (Free) came out more than two years ago (wow, time flies!) and was a matching RPG with a really neat twist. Basically, the tiles on the board were different elements, and matching them would cast a spell towards your opponent. However, you were able to combine the elements while making a match to create new types of spells. It was a small twist on the formula, but it made for an incredibly deep and strategic game, especially in a seemingly endless sea of “me too" matching RPGs. About 9 months later the sequel Super Glyph Quest released, which included some nips and tucks as well as some new features over the original, and overall was just a more fleshed-out and fully-realized version.
It looks like Glyph Quest Chronicles will refine the experience even more, and I honestly can’t wait. We’ll let you know when there’s more news to share about Glyph Quest Chronicles in the coming weeks.
