Enjoy this ‘Clash of Clans’ 360 Virtual Reality Raid While Waiting for Town Hall 11 Update

TouchArcade Rating:

Ever imagined how Clash of Clans (Free) would look in first person? Well, thanks to this 360 Virtual Reality Raid, now you can. Supercell might busy preparing for the Town Hall 11 Update that should drop on December 10th, but the company still found some time to give us this really smart 360 trailer that shows you how a village looks from atop an Archer Town as it’s attacked. You get to see giants, dragons, balloons, hog riders, and barbarians up close and pretty personal in a trailer that really helps bring the game to life. I could really see how Clash of Clans could become an animated series based on this trailer; the story part would be trickier than the visuals, but I’m sure it could be done.

Now, to the more technical part of this trailer. Supercell has actually build it to work on the YouTube mobile app and uses the phone’s gyroscope to let you experience the battle in 360 degrees. If you have any of those fancy VR things like Google Cardboard, you could even enjoy a virtual reality village attack. This trailer is quite a smart idea because the radical shift in perspective really changes your view of the game. What kind of troops do you think would make for the best VR raid?

This game is soooooo awesome. If you don't have it, well, you just need to get it. So many unlockables.

    2. sakara214ever

      Agreed

I have this and JJX both as mainstays on my iPhone. Amazing game with so much content and a smaller install size especially when considering its ratio to amount of content.

    4. Bliquid

      Bought it.
      Tried a dozen times.
Couldn't go past the awful responsiveness of the controls.
      Still like the idea, though.

I have owned it for sometime and I will pick it up and start playing. Good or bad I get overwhelmed but the size and complexity of it.
I really thing I need to download it on my Mac and start there.

Just started playing it on my TV with a MFI controller, which seems to work fine except platforms seem to place at random no matter what direction I point the right stick.

I've never really been fond of playing games on mobile screens, so I bought a Lightning to HDMI adaptor.

Glad it's not just me that hates the controls. It's fiddly on both touch and controller. This got released for 3DS today by the way. I might get it if it goes on sale to compare the control scheme.

      KING CASHING THO 😍😍😍😍😍😍

Haha, You're really stretching the rpg definition :P. I probably would not have counted it as one, but it does have some character / enemy progression and bosses to fight, although most progression is probably made by mining better ores for better equipment so you can mine better ore for better equipment.
I spent a lot of time on the desktop version of this game. Great game, but a huge time drain too. I'm not really surprised the controls are awkward on the mobile version.

The latest update for Terraria seems to be blotched. The icon title changed to "Terraria - QA". Plus people are reporting they can't load their saved games.

I'm one of those who has never really "gotten" the new crafting genre. Open world exploration is just absolutely fantastic, and it seems like a blast to have some huge environment to just explore to my heart's content. But the actual crafting is totally uninteresting to me -- gathering materials is fun, and finding new items to make cool new weapons is great, but building a house, castle, or whatever just seems tedious. Perhaps a bigger problem, however, is that in nearly every crafting game, every item you craft has a certain "durability" that, when depleted, breaks the item or weapon. So finding some vein of rare ore is really cheapened by the fact that I need to keep finding newer and newer sources, or else lose all my pretty things.

Terraria seems to be the only game that doesn't have durability, which is likely due to the RPG influences. I had quite a bit of fun with it, making my character cooler and cooler, and then... ran into the edge of the world. Really, it takes about two minutes to run from one side to the other. It didn't really feel like some magnificent environment to explore, just a little sample that piqued my interest for more, but couldn't deliver. I was really disappointed.

I'd like to give Junk Jack X a shot, but the durability system just really turns me off.

This is the one game in my library, that i can NEVER play. No matter how many times i download it, no matter what device, phone or tablet, it crashes and thats with every update yet for me it never works. I have tried it on several phones and tablets yet no joy. I have written to the devs several times yet they can never fix it and 3 years ago told me an update will fix it. Worse still i even said to them i will purchase again but sadly no way round that. So this great game i will never get to play so i hate seeing stuff about it lol for me its just called Neveria 😟

Shaun, while you usually do a good job of researching the topic, I think you fell a little short on this article. While Terraria technically released after Minecraft, Minecraft was definitely not at the stage of popularity to be the whole inspiration for Terraria. At that taime back in 2011-2012, From what I remember, Terraria and Minecraft were about the same popularity; Terraria being an interesting indie effort on Steam, and Minecraft being a dinky download in it's early Alpha/Beta. The comparisons only began once Minecraft shot up in popularity, while Terraria sort of plateaued. It's easy to see why comparisons were made, but it definitely isn't right to call Terraria a Minecraft clone.
      http://steamaddicts.com/201...
In this interview, the dev actually recalls an old DOS game as being the inspiration.

I just think it's an injustice to group Terraria with other, actual cheap knock-offs, when Terraria was/is quite original for its time.

(P.S, Some of this is from the article, some is from memory, so correct me if I'm wrong on some points"

      1. Shaun James Musgrave

Well, memory can be tricky, but I'm pretty sure Minecraft was really big in 2010. It was big enough to have a Penny Arcade strip written about it, at least.

As for Terraria, I didn't call it a clone, a knock-off, or "cheap", but it's certainly inspired by Minecraft in many ways. If you don't believe me, why not ask Redigit himself? From the interview you linked:

"(SA): Did you guys draw any kind of inspiration directly from Minecraft? If so, do you give a nod in Notch’s direction?

(Redigit): Minecraft was the final piece of the puzzle in putting this game together, and also one of the biggest inspirations. I’d love to get the chance to buy Notch a beer someday."

Now, Redigit also mentions Liero as the impetus for his idea of the game, but Liero has no crafting or building. It's a one-on-one deathmatch style game, like a real-time Worms. I can see a lot of Liero in Terraria, but honestly? I see *more* Minecraft.

And that's fine. There's nothing wrong with taking inspiration from something and giving it your own twist, the way Terraria does. Gaming (and humanity) would be in a pretty sorry state if we all had to start from scratch with everything we do. I think it speaks to Terraria's overall design that it has been so much more successful than any other Minecraft-inspired game, and that particular blend is Terraria's own.

    13. Reignmaker

Junk Jack X is my go-to for the mobile sandbox experience. The touch controls just blow the Terraria out of the water. That being said, Terraria is the better game imo, but I reserve it for the PC.

    14. daftman

I always assumed this was more of a straight crafting game, so it's cool to hear about its other systems. I got a free copy of this for my Vita thanks to PS+ a while back. Perhaps I'll give that one a try now.

    15. AzhCadeT

Ok, first of all, this game is a blast. I can have fun wherever I am, be it the Hallow, Corruption or Hell (Or Australia, England, Antartica). Since 1.2.4 released, I have even more fun. I can now fish! (A big change to the game!) And the Duke Fishron and The Frost Moon have now been introduced to the game. Duke Fishron and The Frost Moon are both large aspects of the game since it adds an entire new challenge. I endured the Pumpkin Moon but then after a while, it just turned to a farming event. Now that the new mini-bosses have been introduced by The Frost Moon, I now have a harder, but more fun than experience. The Santa-NK1, Everscream and the new royalty to the opposing Pumpking, the Ice Queen! I love how you can tell when the Ice Queen is coming - It can make you nervous if I must say so myself - with them little, but annoying Flockos! Yes, they are little ice things... (Kinda surprised Krampus isn't the main boss :/) But anyway, to Duke Fishron? That's the Duke. Really. It can slaughter you with The Defensive Beetle Armour... But having good weapons or defence isn't really the point - Endurance is. The Duke is considered as a tank boss since it can kill you in 2-4 hits and that's very strong. Aside from that, there are also the Sharknadoes, Bubbles and the round thing... :/.
Anyway, get this game and have an all new aspect to the gaming community. I would not compare this game to it's friend, Minecraft. It's just not well-being and many people find that Terraria is better than Minecraft. I personally would find that they are equal but, get this, I would prefer Terraria... Thanks for reading this and I hope it tells you to pick the best choice - actually buying the game!

this game is one of my favorite games because of the diversity of the game play. you have hundreds of items and many bosses to defeat along with many building possibilities.
