TouchArcade Deals: Pay What You Want to Learn to Make Video Games

TouchArcade Rating:

We checked out what’s getting the most traction on our deals site, and it looks like a lot of people are gravitating towards the various eLearning stuff we’re offering. So, today we’re highlighting a pay what you want game developer bundle that features three different parts: A set of courses surrounding building games without any programming knowledge required using Stencyl & Construct 2, courses on building HTML5 games using a bunch of different tools, and finally, building both 3D and 2D games in Unity.

Here’s how this all works- Pay anything over a buck and you get the first part on building games without any programming knowledge. Beat the current average of $7.44 (as of this writing) and get the whole bundle. If you pay enough to get on the leaderboard (Which seems to be $75 or more), you get everything and a chance to win a Samsung 50-Inch 4K TV with Apple TV. Anyway, if you want to get an idea of what you’re getting into, you can see what these eLearning courses are like by checking out some of the free ones.

Either way, if you’ve always been curious about building games, here’s a good chance to turn that curiosity into a summer project.

I think these games are great and I enjoy I'm not ashamed to admit I like a bit of immature behavior from time to time

All they need to do now is brush up the translation, fixed those typos and above all else iron out all the glaring glitches and bugs and this game is all set.

Not the most mature of games in term of humor but the it is always welcome IMHO. I like it!

          Thanks! ;)

What the heck is it translated from?

        1. Shaun James Musgrave

Italian. And judging by the fact that the first game (released in 2011 on PC) is still just as badly-translated as ever, we shouldn't get our hopes up here.

Okay, got it. Ha! Italian is not what I was expecting! (Although I'm not sure what I was expecting.) We're so used to poor translations of Japanese. Italian might be a novel new experience, or just bizarre enough to be confusing anew, and we are no longer young and resilient when it comes to poor English. (Spoony bard sounded fine to me when I was 9. I didn't know any better.)

It blows, and I blew it off my device after a day.

I've put it down for now. Loved the first one but I'm really struggling with this.

I didn't realise it was early access so fingers crossed it'll get updated and the bugs fixed because it does have potential I'm just going to wait until it gets sorted before putting any more time into it

Ouch. The first one was great but this is just a trainwreck. Not sure why an unfinished game was released in the first place. Will stay away from this until they fix the problems, and it will be awhile because there are plenty of them.

As far as I'm concerned, If the dev released it and charged money for it, then it's a final release with updates to follow. Still a good game though. 3 stars is about right.

Such poor controls..... Wasted my money.

"Even the save files aren't safe and in an RPG with a single auto-save slot, that's just about a dealbreaker" ...

So true (so annoying) - Just updated to the newest version and after opening the game suddenly the first screen appeared again, explaining the controls to me. Having already played at least a third through the game that was a very sweet moment.

Deleting one's save file while sending you back to square one is a really nice punishment for updating.

Would have rather lived with some of the 'fixed' glitches than having my save completely eradicated.

Game isn't too bad but definitely not worth it to start all over again thanks to an annoying, probably totally avoidable bug (after all this was the second update within 2 weeks ...)

Anyway, won't lose any sleep over this, after all it only cost 3 bucks. Still enervating to sink hours into a game just to lose all progress thanks to an update from the developer ...

The first game was great, and if I had money, I'd get this just to wait out the updates and fixes.
