GDC 2015: ‘Conquest: Heroes of Galandria’ Combines CCG with Chess-like Strategy

TouchArcade Rating:

Some of the best games on the App Store take existing popular genres and mash them up in fun ways. Asynchronous multiplayer, CCG elements, and chess-like strategic gameplay seems like a winning combination. Conquest: Heroes of Galandria is pretty complicated, but this hands-on with the developer will walk you through everything you do in game:

Conquest: Heroes of Galandria is still in development, and I’m stoked to give it a try once it’s available worldwide. If you like what you see here, be sure to watch list this game.

I wholeheartedly agree with the majestic Maglor! Floppy Rocket has been my go-to game for the past week or so and I've had a helluva ride reaching space which I finally achieved in my lowly escape pod in a nailbiting climax 😁 I have nothing but high praise for this gem and it's payment model, get yourself buttered up pronto ladies and gents! Oh when you do please feel free to add me under my BSID of deckard, see you on the stats table 😜

Make that Flop Rocket, it's been a long week lol

I didn't even read your article yet I was so excited to see "that 5 stars!" Yes! Yes! Yes! Carter is the MAN! Off to read your review!

      1. Anotherkellydown

        Review read. Nice job Carter!

    3. slamraman

Great review of a great game. That 5 stars, indeed.

It's truly an awesome game that REALLY becomes special which the full unlock. Being able to furiously fire away during the run takes it over the top. And if you own any of the BBros other titles then doing well in those games gives cool perks to Flop Rocket like faster shooting and teleport pods.
It's an innovative system that allows a fun community of users and perks going back and forth between all of the Butterscotch games. After getting into FR I ended up upgrading Quadropus and Towelfight (which is like a strange stoned Zelda like shooter) as each game upgraded the other. A clever evil scheme :D

Agree with everyone else, a very very well deserved five star game.

    6. Chumbake

Okay. Am I the only one that hears the part in the music that says, "f**k the bullsh*t"

For the record, I love the challenge of the game. It's difficult but not in the annoying way.

      1. diovivente

Yeah, I hear it too. Not really a fan of that.

        1. Chumbake

I actually didn't pay for the "butter up" solely because of that.

          1. bscotchshenani

Yeah, we didn't even realize it somehow... We swapped songs in the patch that just went live today, though now other people are sad because they want the profanity back! :D

            1. Ulnarevern

What about a song choosing option?

    7. najmul gony

well it's great for flap rocket, getting 5 star, but is that really honest.

      1. Fangbone

Tried the game and don't see it as a five star game. Granted I didn't butter it up so maybe that changes things.

        1. Deckard74

Buttering up definitely beefs up the gameplay as you get double coinage and it opens up far more rapidly plus you get to support some superb developers too 👍

        2. collider

The game grows on you the more you play it. If you're into challenging yourself to do better every run you will love this. Buttering up also allows you to add friends (there's a big list of forum members in the Flop Rocket thread here). I was really glad I was part of that, it was super fun to leapfrog each other to get to the end. It's super well balanced, there was never really a point I thought I was grinding, though if I were more skilled I would have gotten out much faster.
Great review Carter, glad you liked it as much as we do :) (and great job BS dudes, if you're reading this....)

    9. EpicGamerDude

YES! Butterscotch is the best indie dev!

    10. HelperMonkey

      Days later... Can't stop playing.

    11. mcpeppergames

I really like the setting, graphics and sounds. Compared with the addictive gameplay this one really rocks.

    12. leoavalon

It is impossible to control it! I never figured out how to play this dam shit. Deleted 1 min after I installed.
