I’ll be the first to admit I just don’t get the appeal of Duck Dynasty. If you’ve never seen an episode on TV, you might assume it’s about the science behind and the craftsmanship of duck calls, which is about 0.1% true. It’s actually one of those pseudo-reality shows with a bunch of people always doing pretty crazy things… Of course, this doesn’t stop Duck Dynasty from being immensely popular. This popularity has lead to a ridiculous amount of merchandising, and now, the tower defense game Duck Commander: Duck Defense–
In the game, you’ll set up different hunting-themed towers and take command of characters from the show to ward off an onslaught of critters. 15 levels are included that span across the various geographic regions featured in the show and like any good tower defense game there’s a bunch of tower types and upgrades. Oh, and there’s an endless mode too.
Whether you love or hate the IP behind this game, it’s cool to see it used in a way that at least kinda-sorta makes sense compared to just making something like a Duck Dynasty behind the back lane based runner or something. All the hunting they do in the show translates well to the theme of a tower defense game it seems.
Duck Commander: Duck Defense should hit the App Store some time tonight or tomorrow for $1.99. If you own any of the vast sea of Duck Dynasty swag they sell at Wal-Mart, this is likely going to be a must-have for you.
