Apple’s keynote is going strong right now, and before really dishing on the big announcements like new iPads and whatever else, CEO Tim Cook took the beginning minutes to tout how strong the launch of the new iPhone 6 models has been. He also briefly talked about the Apple Watch, and even more briefly announced a new SDK for the Apple Watch which is called WatchKit.
I’m not really sure how the Apple Watch and the world of gaming are going to collide, but I can pretty much guarantee that there will be plenty of attempts to create compelling gaming experiences on your wrist, and the way that will be accomplished is with WatchKit. While the Apple Watch still has the nebulous release date of “early 2015", the WatchKit SDK is set to launch next month, so it should give us all a better idea of what sort of gaming stuff will be possible on the Apple Watch.
What do you think? As a gamer, do you care about the Apple Watch? Do you want games for it? Or if you’re a developer, are you interested in trying to make games for an Apple Watch, or do you think it’s best left to utility-type apps?
