When Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto: Vice City ($4.99) on iOS this past December to celebrate its 10-year anniversary, I figured that their previous release Grand Theft Auto 3 ($4.99), which saw a similar anniversary iOS release about a year prior, had been usurped by its own superior sequel.
Well, I was wrong, as Rockstar is still showing love to its groundbreaking title that basically invented the open-world sandbox genre. Yesterday Grand Theft Auto 3 was updated with widescreen support for the iPhone 5 as well as iCloud game save functionality.
Another big new feature is the option for creating a custom playlist as an in-game radio station, just like you can do in Vice City on iOS. There are also “various stability and bug fixes" which seems to include a bump up in resolution for Retina iPads, which is nice. If you thought you were done with GTA 3 then think again, and check out this new update to relive this all-time classic on mobile.
