Angry Birds creator Rovio has been artfully carrying out a drip cycle of teaser information for their Angry Birds Star Wars mashup title ever since they announced it early last month. Take a quick visit to their YouTube channel and you can find over a half dozen extremely teaser-y videos showcasing the cast of Angry Birds as the various iconic Star Wars characters, and even inserting them into actual scenes from the films. The videos are cute and humorous, but aside from the briefest of glimpses in a video from last week I’ve really been anxious to see more of what you actually do in the game itself.
Rovio has basically blown the lid off of just that with their latest Angry Birds Star Wars trailer. It’s almost a full minute of pure in-game action, and it looks awesome. Just as I suspected, it features a mixture of standard Angry Birds type levels as well as the gravity-slinging style ones found in Angry Birds Space. Star Wars takes place in space, you know, so that makes sense. The trailer also showcases some of the new moves your birdies will have, like using a lightsaber to swat shots back towards your enemies.
I really am excited to get my hands on Angry Birds Star Wars, as it looks to offer quite a few twists to the approximately one thousand Angry Birds games that came before it. Plus, I love me some Star Wars, and it seems like Rovio has used the IP to great effect here. Angry Birds Star Wars is set to launch November 8th, though Rovio doesn’t typically follow the usual late Wednesday night release routine that most other developers do, so we’ll be sure to let you know when it becomes available.
