Well we’re about 9 months out from the launch of Diablo Immortal in June of last year, and at the time of its launch I was pretty heavily into the game for the first month or so. Then I just sort of churned out and haven’t really been keeping tabs on it since. I guess I assumed others did the same, so when the trailer for the game’s new expansion crossed my desk I thought to myself “Oh neat, what is this the 3rd or 4th update to the game? It’s probably been a while since the last update right, like 6 months or something?" WOW I couldn’t have been more wrong about that! Perusing the news section on the Diablo Immortal website revealed to me that there have been a constant flow of updates, both big and small, adding in all sorts of great new features and new content to play through over these past 9 months. My bad for not keeping this one in my rotation!
Of course if you are one of the apparently many players who have been enjoying Diablo Immortal all this time, you probably are already aware of its impending Age of Falling Towers major update. The tentpole feature in this update is the new Accursed Towers clan-based game mode which features both PvE and PvP gameplay for you and your clan. You can see this new game mode as well as many more new features in the following Age of Falling Towers trailer.
In addition to Accursed Towers, this update will include a brand new campaign dungeon, a new Elite Quest, new limited time events, new gear, obligatory bug fixes, and more. And like I mentioned before, the team behind Diablo Immortal has been adding this type of new content at a constant clip since the game’s launch, so if you are an early player who churned out like me then it might be worth re-downloading the game to see what sort of stuff you’ve been missing. At least that’s what I plan on doing. I’ll also point out how amusing it is to me that when Diablo Immortal was first announced it received a legendary amount of hate from the Diablo fanbase, who really just wanted to hear about Diablo IV and not some silly phone game. Now fast forward several years after that point and Diablo IV is in active beta and all I’m hearing is people hating on that and commenting about how much more fun Diablo Immortal is to play. Oh how the turn tables!
Anyhoo, expect server maintenance March 29th from 5pm-7pm PDT for Oceania, China, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Europe Servers, and on March 30th from 1am-3am PDT for servers in the Americas as the Age of Falling Towers update is activated in the game, after which point all the new goodness will be ready to be enjoyed by both continuing and lapsed Diablo Immortal players.
