In today’s article, I briefly touch on that Nintendo Direct presentation from yesterday before heading into the new release summaries of the day. There were a few shadow drops as a result of the direct, and they are certainly interesting. After that, it’s a quick stop for some sales lists. We all love those. Let’s get to the good stuff!

Yes, That Sure Was a Nintendo Direct
I’ll be honest with you all: I have the Tokyo Game Show tomorrow so I am extremely pinched for time today. Yesterday I had imagined the Nintendo Direct would only have a few things to talk about, but it turned out it was completely bonkers. I don’t have time to go through it all, but we saw things like a release date and final title for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (May 12th of next year), the announcement that Goldeneye is coming to the Nintendo Switch Online Nintendo 64 app, new games like Fire Emblem: Engage, Pikmin 4, Octopath Traveler II, Theatrhythm Final Bar Line, Tunic, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, and a whole lot more. If you haven’t watched the presentation, you probably should.
New Releases
Radiant Silvergun ($19.99)
SwitchArcade Highlight!
The legendary Treasure-developed SEGA Saturn shoot-em-up arrives on Switch! Annnnnd it’s gone. I’m not sure exactly what is going on with this, as it was quickly pulled from the North American eShop while remaining on the eShop in other regions. But whenever it comes back, shooter fans should definitely pick it up. This is based on the Xbox 360 port, so it looks as shiny as it can. Input lag is about as good as you can expect out of the Switch, and shouldn’t be a concern for most players. It’s great to see this game available in more forms that don’t require plunking down a couple hundred bucks on a used copy.
Easy Come Easy Golf ($19.99)
Okay, I’ll grant: that is a better name than Clap Hanz Golf. It’s still not the name I would have gone with, but my golf game credentials are admittedly a bit less impressive than the makers of this game, who shepherded the Hot Shots/Everybody’s Golf series at Sony for a couple decades. But yes, this is the Apple Arcade Clap Hanz Golf under a new name, offering up the same reliable and enjoyable game of video game golf. Up to four players can play via local or online multiplayer.
Various Daylife ($28.99)
This quirky former Apple Arcade game is now available on Switch. It’s nice to see it survive its departure from Apple’s subscription service, but I really wonder how much of an audience it is going to find at this price. It might look like a normal RPG from the screenshots, but it’s really more of a party-raising simulator of sorts. Pick the jobs you want them to take on, mind their happiness and stamina, and watch them grow stronger. There are also adventures where your group will head out, asking you for input in turn-based battles along the way. Rinse and repeat until the monotony grinds you down or you finish the game. It’s an interesting game and I think it was perfect for the sampler style of Apple Arcade, but I don’t know if it’s something I personally would want to drop thirty bucks on. Perhaps you feel differently, though.
Family Man ($19.99)
From publisher No More Robots and developer Broken Bear Games comes this unusual RPG about a guy who owes money to some very bad people. They want their money, and they want it really soon. Your job is to get that money however you can, be it by flipping burgers or other less honest means. Be careful, though. If you’re too honest you’ll probably never get enough money. If you push things too far, you might lose everything you’re trying to save. Be warned: this one can get pretty dark, even though it’s also very silly at times. It was released on computers a couple of years back and got a decent if not stellar reception, so we’ll have to see how it does with Switch owners. I’ll have a review of it soon for you all.
Reknum DX ($4.99)
Nape is back with another one, and if there are this many of them then I know there must be some fans out there. This is an enhanced version of the original Reknum with redone graphics, new mechanics, and some added story content to connect things nicely with the Ploid games. Well, it’s a fiver, and I can’t say the developer doesn’t put an honest effort into these games.
