Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for February 1st, 2022. Well, that’s one month down. February is looking to be a slightly quieter month in some respects, but with March as stacked as it is that’s probably fine. We’ve got a bit of news for you to look at before we head into the usual summaries of the day’s new releases. Only a few of them today, but they’re an interesting bunch at least. Finally, there are lots of new sales to consider. Nothing too thrilling in that area, but you should have a gander yourself just to make sure ol’ Shaun isn’t full of beans. Let’s go!
News
‘MLB The Show 22’ Hits Nintendo Switch on April 5th
Pretty, pretty weird seeing that PlayStation logo pop up after the Nintendo Switch logo. Sony’s MLB The Show series came to the Xbox ecosystem with last year’s installment, and this year it also arrives on the Nintendo Switch on April 5th. The cover athlete this time is Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels. As this is co-published by MLB Advanced Media, I suspect this ubiquitous release means the end of the R.B.I. Baseball series on consoles. Well, as much as that series was improving year over year, MLB The Show easily blows it out of the water. Let’s hope the Switch version holds up.
New Releases
Kharon’s Crypt – Even Death May Die ($14.95)
This game describes itself as a “nonlinear dungeon crawler Metroidvania", but with its top-down perspective I believe it’s better to describe it as a Zelda-like. And it’s a rather solid one, too. It has really nice pixel art visuals that are supposed to evoke the Game Boy Color but seem more like the Game Boy Advance to my eyes. Well, descriptions aside, this is a really good action-adventure game. It’s rather obviously inspired by the Zelda games of the Game Boy and Super NES, but it has good puzzle design and plays well.
GUNGUNGUN ($4.99)
Hm, wonder what this one is about? Friends, do you like GUN? And how about GUN? And, just for fun, how do you feel about GUN? Imagine all of those things put together, and that is GUNGUNGUN. It’s an arena-based 2D shooter for up to two players. There are eight different guns to use, four different enemies with variant versions, nine arenas, and various unlockables. Pretty fun, quite affordable. It has a nice arcade quality that some will certainly get into.
Virtual Maid Streamer Ramie ($7.01)
This is a visual novel about a guy who, like many of us, enjoys chilling out watching Vtubers each day. But through some sort of process that one could call weird science, his favorite streamer Ramie pops out of the screen one day and becomes part of the real world. She’s there to take care of the protagonist and make him feel better, and only that. So yeah, hapless guy living with cute maid Vtuber dedicated only to his happiness. Things will absolutely get a little lewd, so make sure you know what you’re getting into.
Sales
(North American eShop, US Prices)
Hey, it’s our old friends the usual suspects again. Noteworthy games in today’s new sales include Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S, Super Fowlst, Dadish 2, and Jenny LeClue: Detectivu. The outbox is about as small as we’ve ever seen it. So small that it’s faster for you to read the entire thing than it is for me to try to describe it. Have at it, everyone.

That’s all for today, friends. We’ll be back tomorrow with more of the usual stuff. There are a few new releases to check out, with the meme game Yeah Yeah Beebis II seemingly the most promising of the bunch. There will also be more sales, because there are always more sales. Perhaps some news? We’ll see what the day brings. I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday, and as always, thanks for reading!
