Crystalborne: Heroes of Fate is a tactically demanding turn-based strategy game that boasts some of the most impressive visuals seen on mobile yet. Set in the mysterious world of Horizon, a land of floating cities, it sees you embarking on a lengthy quest to put an end to General Kaine’s reign while discovering your fate as the legendary Crystal Breaker and gaining enough power to stop the return of the dreaded Leviathan.
Kaine and his marauder army have taken control of the skies and started imprisoning the last remaining heroes. Thankfully you’re available, and so off you go to save the day. Alongside your new companions and fellow players from across the globe, you’ll fight back against the enemy hordes and push Horizon towards a full-on revolution.
It’s a classic story of hope and perseverance, that much is clear, but how does it play? Well, Crystalborne offers up lots of surprisingly deep turn-based strategizing and progression. It has the feel of a classic RPG brought straight into the current day, boasting tons of polish, an immersive world to explore, and some impressive visuals.
It’s also concerned with creating a living, exciting social space in which to connect and play with other players. You could opt to go it alone and take back the captured regions yourself, but the game is really built to be experienced with others.
