The Hearthstone (Free) competitive season is steadily wrapping up, and today Blizzard announced the dates and location for the upcoming Summer Championship. The event will take place between Friday, October 13th and Sunday, October 15th, with doors opening at 8 am PDT each day. The Group stages will take place during the first two days, and the Playoffs will take place on Sunday. The location for the event was a fun surprise to all, since Blizzard announced that the event will take place at the brand new Blizzard Arena Los Angeles, a “cutting-edge, live-event destination" that’s been designed with e-sports in mind. And there’s even going to be an on-site store with gear and goods based on the event taking place at that time. I can’t wait to check out the new Arena and see what Blizzard has in store for all those attending the event live.
As for the Summer Championship, the top four players from each region’s Summer Playoffs qualify for the Summer Championship, and those 16 players will fight it out in a dual tournament group stage. The top two players from each group will advance to the single elimination playoff bracket, and the total price pool is $250,000, which is quite a big one. You can grab tickets from here, and they cost $15 for a single day and $40 for the whole weekend. The tickets are first-come, first-serve, so don’t take too long if you plan on attending. All who attend will receive a special Thrill of Victory card back, and those who get a 3-day ticket will receive a very cool Year of the Mammoth duffel bag. Head over here for more details.
