Word Game ‘Letteral’ Mixes Word Knowledge With Tactical Play, Is Looking for Beta Testers

The upcoming word game Letteral makes me want to make quite a few jokes about things being letterally letteral, but I’ll try and control myself. This upcoming game will remind you a lot of Letterpress, if you’ve ever played that very entertaining word game. Letteral splits the board into triangles, each with one letter, and you try and form words by picking different triangles. As you can see in the trailer below, when you form a word, you get to switch some of the triangles to your color and make it harder for your opponent to form a word when it’s her turn. This mechanic makes picking the right word at the right moment more important than just knowing more words than your opponent (although knowing more words definitely helps since you have more options that way).

The game lets you play both local and online multiplayer, and it also lets you play in 5 different languages (English, Spanish, German, French, and Danish), with more coming in the future. And I do like the minimalist art style and the options to change the color scheme. If you like word games with a bit of a twist, head over to our Upcoming Games forum thread and sign up for the beta. Letteral will hit the App Store on September 28th.
