More than a year ago we wrote about an upcoming deckbuilding game called VEmpire: The Kings of Darkness, but it’s been a while since we last heard about it. Well, it looks like the game is still under development and actually getting closer to release. The developer shifted resources to releasing a Steam version first (which is coming at the end of August), but iOS remains the main platform for VEmpire (at least according to him). After the game releases on Steam, he intends to go back to finishing the iOS version, although there is no date on when the game would release on mobile.
If you don’t remember what the game is about (and I don’t blame you if you don’t given how long ago we talked about it), VEmpire is a deckbuilding game set in the times of the Habsburg dynasty of the Holy Roman Empire. However, in this universe the Habsburgs are revived as vampires. The game has four classes, each representing one of the four periods of the Habsburgs, with all cards based on real historical characters, famous ancient buildings, and memorable battles. VEmpire has pretty cool art, and I like how it anchors its lore on actual history. Hopefully the game will release in the not-so-distant future.
