Supercell has been celebrating Clash of Clan (Free) fifth anniversary with all kinds of events both in and out of the game, and today the developer is working together with Facebook to bring the game’s Builder into the “real world." Specifically, when you use Facebook’s camera, you have access to an AR filter that places the Builder in the real world (where he will hammer things non-stop). And if you turn the camera around, you can, of course, make yourself look like the Builder. I can see the AR Builder becoming quite popular with fans of the game since you can set up all kinds of silly photos with the little round guy hammering away.
At the same time, it’s an early sign of how AR can work great for mobile game advertising, and, given that Apple is focusing increasingly on AR, I can see a tide of things like the AR Builder coming our way soon. And when (because it’s not an if) AR becomes more common, game companies along with companies like Facebook will definitely be using it to popularize games. In the meantime, tap here on your mobile device (if you have the Facebook app) and check out the Builder.
