If you found yourself thinking that the pre-release launch hype Blizzard has been building for their upcoming Hearthstone (Free) Knights of the Frozen Throne hasn’t been as goofy as we’ve come to expect from the Hearthstone team, strap in. The bar was set incredibly high (or low? I’m not sure in this case) with One Night in Karazhan, which took the World of Warcraft Karazhan raid and turned it into a disco dance party, but this latest promo from Blizzard has us wondering if Knights of the Frozen Throne isn’t going to have a considerable tongue in cheek side focus surrounding frozen treats?
The Ice Cream Citadel is going to be set up outside of San Diego Comic Con this weekend, and the lich king serving ice cream to SDCC attendees is just the level of absurdity I’ve come to expect out of Hearthstone. Better yet, you don’t even need a SDCC pass to grab some ice cream courtesy of Blizzard. The Ice Cream Citadel will be set up in the parking lot of the nearby PetCo which is only a short walk from the San Diego Convention Center.
If you’re not in the San Diego area, but still want to join in on the fun, there’s going to be a Yelp listing (which doesn’t seem to be active yet) and there’s a phone number you can call: 1-855-LCH-KING. It also wouldn’t surprise me if there’s loads of ridiculous photos being posted with the #icecreamcitadel hashtag, so keep your eyes peeled for that too.
I really need to make it to Comic Con one of these days.
