32-Bit Appocalypse Update: ‘VVVVVV’, ‘Osmos’, ‘World of Goo’, and More

TouchArcade Rating:

With the 32-bit Appocalypse soon upon us with iOS 11 removing support for 32-bit apps, it’s worth keeping an eye out right now for any classic apps that need an update to 64-bit. Terry Cavanagh has updated three of his titles to 64-bit: the classic gravity-flipping platformer VVVVVV ($2.99), its high-score spinoff Super Gravitron (Free), and Don’t Look Back (Free). Don’t worry, Super Hexagon ($2.99) is all good to go for the bold 64-bit future.

A couple of developers have confirmed that they’re working on 64-bit updates. Simogo is updating any 32-bit apps to 64-bit in the future. And the folks at Rubicon Development have committed to updating their classic War Game titles in the near future:

We heard that 64-bit Osmos ($3.99) updates were inbound, and well, they hit in late May! We missed them, but they’re worth pointing out now. They add some new features such as background matchmaking, native screen resolution with modern devices, and in-game video recording/streaming through ReplayKit. Huzzah! World of Goo ($4.99) also got a 64-bit update recently, too. Even just peering through all the recent updates, there’s a ton of older titles starting to get 64-bit updates after years of inactivity, so hopefully the next few months see that classic iOS apps that only support 32-bit get updated to 64-bit.
