Ogre Pixel, makers of one of my favorite under-the-radar games of last year Warcher Defenders (Free), have announced their next project, a fantasty-themed spell-casting battler called Swipe Casters. The game takes place in the same universe as both of Ogre Pixel’s previous titles, Warcher Defenders and Black Tower Enigma (Free), and sees you playing the role of a magician competing in a magicians tournament. Yes, that’s a thing. However, the grand prize for the tournament, the Magician’s Chalice, has been stolen and it’s up to you to get it back.
As you can see in the trailer, the main battling mechanic in Swipe Casters is built around tracing various line shapes to cast your spell, and while this isn’t the first game to use touchscreen magic casting like this I’ve always thought it was a great fit for a smartphone or tablet game. Plus you have all the neat characters and wonderful pixel art that’s also present in Ogre Pixel’s previous games. According to the post in our forums, Swipe Casters is releasing soon so keep an eye on our page here and we’ll give you a head’s up when it arrives.
