Devolver Digital doesn’t release as many mobile games I’d like them to, but I am a biased mobile fanboy. So, when they do have a mobile release, it’s big news, becasue thee publisher has a great track record for quality. Next up for them is Spaceplan. And to get the word out there, they’ve released a trailer, as many publishers and developers would do. It’s just that it’s a 40 minute trailer. Sit back, put your headphones on, and check out this curious trailer:
The idea is that Spaceplan is a clicker, based on a web game but now for mobile and Steam, “based partly on a total misunderstanding of Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History of Time." You use the occasional manual clicks and the passage of real-world time to launch satellites and probes from your mysterious planet. It just so happens that they’re potato-based. Apparently some NASA folks are fans of the game, developed by Jake Hollands, so there’s some interesting space stuff going on here. And there’s narrative elements going on, too. Plus, the music in that trailer seems totally rad. I don’t completely know what to expect, but Spaceplan will be $2.99 and hit on May 4th.
