Fans of tablet wargaming are anxiously awaiting for Rome: Total War – Barbarian Invasion, Feral Interactive’s port of the Rome: Total War expansion from back in mid-2000s. As you probably know, the game—which will be a standalone app—is going to release tomorrow, March 28th, and if you wanted to see it in action, you can check out this Feral Twitch stream that shows off quite a bit of the game. Judging from the stream, Barbarian Invasion will definitely please fans of the PC game and also strategy games looking for a deep game to sink their teeth in (metaphorically, I hope).
Barbarian Invasion was the first expansion of Rome: Total War and takes place during the twilight of the Roman Empire. So, don’t expect to control the unbeatable armies of Rome’s heyday. There are quite a few Barbarian factions you can control, new units, units that can swim across rivers, and tons of other new features. If you’ve never played the game before, prepare to be impressed by how deep this tablet game will be, and if you have played it before, prepare for some nostalgic moments.
