A couple of years ago, Scott Cawthon announced that a Five Nights at Freddy’s ($2.99) movie was in the works, and then we heard even more details from the director of the movie, Gil Kenan. Well, according to a post by Cawthon himself, the movie has met with several delays and roadblocks and is now pretty much back at square one. Part of the problems are endemic to the movie industry according to Cawthon, although he doesn’t get into details. He points out that he doesn’t see these delays as a bad thing necessarily because he wants to make sure the right movie is made. This time around, he’ll be involved with the movie from the beginning to ensure the movie is something the fanbase really wants to watch. And the movie is still in its very early stages, so don’t expect to see a trailer with those creepy animatronics any time soon.
It’s interesting to point out that this post came out about a month ago but wasn’t talked about much. Less than a year ago, such an announcement would have been a really big deal because any Scott Cawthon word was bellowed across the internet and was very, very hard to miss. It’s another sign of how quickly the world of mobile gaming moves, I suppose, and how heroes quickly turn to (relative) zeroes.
The franchise, though, continues to expand, and in June we’re getting the sequel to the book Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Silver Eyes. The sequel is called Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Twisted Ones, and it’s coming out June 27th, 2017 according to Amazon. I won’t give you the synopsis here because it contains spoilers for The Twisted Ones. What’s funny is that Amazon is selling this book under Children’s eBooks; I wonder if they know the franchise at all.
