I was wondering recently why we haven’t had many other audio games on iPhones outside the brilliant Papa Sangre II given how great an iPhone can be for games like that. And then I checked our Upcoming Games forums and saw a thread on The Girl Who Sold the World, an upcoming audio adventure game that aims to provide a complete gaming experience without any visuals at all. The description, of course, intrigued me. In this game, your goal is to help Frances survive the strange world she inhabits and discover the truth about who she really is. Maybe she’s the sister of David Bowie’s The Man Who Sold the World.
As the developer points out, since an audio game forces players to use their imagination to fill in the blanks, everyone will be playing a slightly different game, and I can see his point. The game will also have a branching story and different endings, so there should be an incentive to replay the game.
