Pokemon GO (Free) has been praised for its very positive effect on people’s mobility, and the latest numbers out of Niantic definitely prove that. Apparently, Pokemon GO Trainers have walked more than 8.7 billion kilometers since the game’s launch, which comes out to more than 200,000 trips around Earth. While walking for all those miles, Trainers have caught more than 88 billion Pokemon, which comes out to around 533 million Pokemon a day. That’s some pretty crazy stats, especially considering the fact that the game wasn’t available in that many countries for most of these six months.
What I do wonder is what the numbers would have been if Pokemon GO had launched during the winter instead of the summer and how much that would have affected its success. In addition to the fun video above, Niantic has also released a small update game that fixes the bug that caused incorrect vibration notifications. The update has also changed the day and night modes to more accurately reflect the Trainer’s actual current time of day.
