Korean developer has today released Cube Knight (Free), a unique take on the Arthurian legends. I say that because I don’t think Geoffrey of Monmouth planned on the story of King Arthur being told in a free-to-play dual-stick shooter filled with voxel graphics. Or maybe he did, I just did a quick search of Wikipedia for that reference, I’m sure some smarter historian will pull up some evidence that says this is the purest representation of the Arthurian legends yet.
Cube Knight starts you out playing as Queen Guinevere in the search for the Grail. You’ll undergo timed missions with waves of enemies to defeat with your weapons that have both standard fire and a charge shot that can deploy tons of damage at once. As you play, temporary new upgrades can be attained between waves. As you progress, you’ll buy new weapons and upgrade Camelot, along with unlocking new characters. The game’s interface is a bit confusing to deal with, but it at least means that the combat missions play a major role in the game. You can check this one out for free right now, and there’s a forum thread for the game as well.
