‘Misspell’ is the Next Roguelike from ‘Microgue’ Developer Jason Pickering

Jason Pickering last made the fun Microgue ($1.99) for mobile, a fun pixel art roguelike that was about invading a dungeon, stealing a dragon’s treasure, then escaping said dungeon while that dragon chases you out of there. Cool game! Now, Pickering has announced a new title that’s a spiritual successor to Microgue, called Misspell. The idea is to be another small, focused experience around a single aspect of the roguelike genre – here, the focus is on items.

You’ll collect pages from a spellbook as you explore the dark forest, allowing different spells to be cast on the many hazards that are sure to be in your way. Treasure that provides passive bonuses can be found as well. You’ll have a limited inventory to juggle with spells and treasure to deal with, too, so good luck with that! Misspell is still in development, and you’ll be able to follow its development in the game’s forum thread.
