With the Apple Watch Series 2 and watchOS 3 rolling out, that means it’s time for a whole new batch of smartwatch games. Everywear, a smartwatch-focused game studio, has just released Field Day (Free), what they’re calling the tiniest farming game. Field Day lets you run your own farm, complete with crops, chickens, and cows, all from your wrist. The game uses small three-unit wide grids in order to fit on the tiny Apple Watch screen, with crops rendered as large visuals in order to try and show them off well.

Obviously the smartwatch format really limits just what a game can do, but an experience like this where players can check in regularly on a farm seems like the best possible attack vector for smartwatch gaming. Something that can be quickly played in short sessions with a long-term hook to it. We’ll see just if and when smartwatch gaming takes off, but who knows, maybe this is the one?
