‘Legends of Callasia” Features Cross-Platform Turn-Based Strategy, Out Now

TouchArcade Rating:

Boomzap has just launched their new multiplayer turn-based strategy game Legends of Callasia (Free) for iPad as well as PC and Mac, with Android coming soon. The idea is that this is a turn-based strategy game with conquest elements, with Civilization and Heroes of Might and Magic cited as influences. There are several singleplayer campaigns, but the eight-player online mode with cross-platform play is the star here: it uses an intriguing simultaneous turn-based multiplayer system where everyone plans moves all at once.

This one could be intriguing for strategy fans. If you want to check the game out on iPad, it’s free to download with starter campaigns and multiplayer gameplay available for free, but the full game is a $14.99 in-app purchase. I’m sure there’s a bit of mobile pricing sticker shock there, but hey – freemium unlocks convert free players into purchasers at a low enough rate that developers wanting to use them should make them a reasonable price. And especially since you get to check out not only some of the singleplayer but a lot of the multiplayer content, it seems like anyone who decides to pay the $14.99 knows what they’re getting into. If you do decide to play this, Boomzap’s also started up a Discord (Free) channel for the game that might help with communicating with other players and finding games. And of course, we have a thread on our forums as well.
