‘Armajet’, ‘Antihero’, and ‘Gunhouse’ Among the Games Exhibiting at Google Play Indie Games Festival

Google’s putting on their Google Play Indie Games Festival on September 24th, and they’ve just announced the 30 games that will be exhibiting at the event. What’s cool is that all the gmaes are either on mobile (well, Android in particular) or are coming to mobile at some point in the future. You have some recent releases such as Riptide GP: Renegade ($2.99), and VR games like SmashWars VR: Drone Racing. There’s some games not on Android yet such as 1979 Revolution: Black Friday ($4.99), a Vita game that was on PlayStation Mobile but was otherwise lost once that service shut down. Plus, there’s a few upcoming games like Antihero, Armajet, and Dog Sled Saga. You can check out the whole list of exhibitors here.

An indie games event that’s actually focused solely around mobile games in particular is kind of ambitious for Google to do, but with the idea that they want to link up everyday people, YouTubers, and game developers, all around the nexus of mobile games, is a gambit that I hope pays off. Too many indie gaming events treat mobile gaming as secondary despite how influential it has been in the rise of independent game development, so while I won’t be able to make it out to the event at Terra Gallery in San Francisco on the 24th (because I’m not in the Bay Area and Baroness is performing here that night), hopefully this proves to be a worthwhile and continuing showcase for mobile games.
