Apparently, when you want to bring any kind of IP to the App Store, you go for a Match-3 game, which isn’t always a bad idea, but most of the times the whole thing seems forced. In the case of the upcoming Muhammad Ali: Puzzle King game, the official game based on the life of the Greatest, I can see how thinking about combining gems does have some kind of an association with boxing and with punch combos. In this game, you play as Muhammad Ali and you get to throw a punch each time you connect three or more gems. The more gems you connect, the more powerful the punch.
The game also lets you experience Ali’s life starting from his childhood in Louisville, Kentucky and going all the way to his many titles. It will also involve his impact outside the boxing world, which is a nice move on behalf of the developers. So yes, this will be another Match-3 game, but as I’ve said, at least in this one the mechanics match the theme. The game is already out in Canada, and it will launch worldwide before the end of August.
